The 2009 Pacific Northwest Microfinance Conference, held May 8-9 at Seattle Pacific University, was a highly successful event.  Attendance was limited due to room capacity, but the 400 plus attendees, presenters, and sponsors all expressed their appreciation, and added their encouragement for us to consider future similar events.

Great weather allowed conference attendees to enjoy their lunchtime fellowship in Martin Square,
around which the buildings hosting the conference are situated.
The atrium of upper Gwinn Commons provided a beautiful location for sponsor presentations.


Atul Tandon, Senior Vice-President for Donor Engagement for World Vision and as a board member for VisionFund International
(World Vision’s microfinance subsidiary), spoke on
Microfinance in the Midst of Economic Crisis.    


The session on Beyond Credit: The Integration of Financial and Non-Financial Services Within the Community was very popular.
    
 
This session entitled Microfinance in the United States: Domestic Microfinance 101 included small group participation
 

Author and Conference Co-Chair Jeff Keenan led a session titled
Get in the Action: 10 (or More) Ways You Can Help.
 
Skip Li, founder of Agros International, concluded the conference with his passionate remarks at the final plenary session.
