Faith Formation Project - Spring Summit

Faith Formation Summit 2024

How can churches best support families in the faith formation of children?

How do church leaders navigate topics of disability, mental health, race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality through a Christian lens, and cultivate a healthy cultural identity? How do parents and caregivers understand scriptures on these topics?  These are the central questions guiding our work. Through interdisciplinary research and partnerships with local congregations, we aim to build a community of learning among Pacific Northwest families and ministry leaders as we navigate faith and parenting in a changing world. We are a diverse group of researchers, ministers, students, parents, artists, and educators, among myriad identities. What we all have in common: a commitment to faithful service and a desire to see our community grow in Christ.

Thanks to a generous $1 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., Faith Formation Project will offer four grants each year to local congregations in support of family ministries. We will also bring local ministry leaders on a pilgrimage to the island of Moloka’i, Hawai’i to learn about reconciliation.

You are invited to join us for our 2024 Spring Summit on May 10, 2024, from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm at Seattle Pacific University. Keynote Speaker is Rev. Dominique DuBois Gilliard, Director of Racial Righteousness and Reconciliation for the Evangelical Covenant Church, on “Discipling the Next Generation to Make God’s Name Known and Love Shown.”
